Croatia: 344,839 MWh traded on CROPEX in March

A total volume of 344,839 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in March 2019, which is 2.78 % less than in February, of which 340,358 MWh on the day-ahead market and 4,481 MWh on the intraday market. Average daily base price on day-ahead market in March amounted to 39.57 euros/MWh, which is 20.5 % lower than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 43.3 euros/MWh, 22 % lower compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 41.91 euros/MWh (- 26.3 %). There are 19 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market, of which nine have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in March amounted to 10,979 MWh.

CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June this year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day-ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
