Serbia: Fintel Energia to invest 120 million euros in Kosava wind farm

Italian company Fintel Energia said that it plans to invest 120 million euro in the first phase of the construction of Kosava wind farm in Serbia.

The statement from the company said that it is implementing the project through MK Fintel Wind, a joint venture with Serbian MK Group and has invested 20 million euros so far in the project. Currently, the construction of two transmission lines, substations, connection facilities, and the basis for the installation of the 20 turbines of the wind farm is being carried out. The first phase of the wind farm’s development will be completed in 2019, when the facility will have an installed capacity of 69 MW, enough to meet the needs of 45,000 households.

Last week, Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas announced that it has received its third and largest order from Serbian MK Fintel Wind to supply turbines for 69 MW Kosava wind farm. Press release from the company said that MK Fintel Wind has placed an order for 20 V126-3.45 MW turbines for the first stage of Kosava wind farm. Vestas developed a solution with site-specific towers to accommodate the site’s distinct wind conditions and maximize energy production while meeting the site’s tip height constraints. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a 12-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement. Delivery of the turbines is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2018, while commissioning is expected in the first quarter of next year.

In November 2015, MK Fintel Wind commissioned 9.9 MW wind farm near Kula, which is the first such facility in Serbia. It has three 178 meters high wind turbines, expected annual electricity generation of 27 GWh, while the value of the investment was around 15 million euros, while 6.6 MW La Piccolina wind farm near Vrsac was commissioned in October 2016. After the completion of Kosava wind farm, MK Fintel Wind will operate a total of 133 MW in wind power.
