Bosnia and Herzegovina: TurkStream gas pipeline extension works to start in early 202230.Nov 2020.
Works on the construction of a branch of the extension of TurkStream gas pipeline in the Republic of Srpska (RS) would start in early 2022, said director of Bosnian gas company Gas-Res Ljubo Glamocic.
According to him, the construction of this gas pipeline has so far been conditioned by the dynamics of the construction of the TurkStream extension section through Serbia, and the fact that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Srbijagas Director Dusan Bajatovic announced that it could be completed by the end of the year, will speed up the activities on this project in the RS.
Glamocic said that Serbia will launch the construction of a 100 kilometers long branch towards the RS, namely Bijeljina, which could be completed in two to three years. The pipeline then would traverse the RS and end in Banja Luka. According to initial estimates, the construction could cost up to 200 million euros and its capacity would reach 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The construction of the main pipeline will be followed by the expansion of gas distribution network and the gasification of cities. The construction of at least two gas-fires power plants is planned as well.
General Director of Serbian gas company Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said earlier this week that the extension of TurkStream gas pipeline will be completed by the end of the year, thus enabling another gas supply route for Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and partially Hungary, reassuring that there will be no issues regarding gas deliveries to Serbia during the winter season.
